Andrea

Andrea McGuire-Seery lives in Stoneycroft and will be representing Liverpool East. She has two children and is a self-confessed geek! She’s looking forward to getting out and about to enjoy lot’s of cultural activities through the year!

Andrea’s favourite things

Writer – Guy Gavriel Kay
He writes fantasy fiction and fictionalised novels that resemble real historical events such as the Spain of El Cid or the Byzantine Empire under Justinian I. I’ve read and re-read these books so much that I’m on my 5th copy of some of them.

Film – Agh! Asking me to pick my favourite film is like asking me to pick my favourite child!
(My children are named after movie characters) Some of my all time favourites include Amelie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Leon, Blade Runner, West Side Story, Pulp Fiction, Donnie Darko, Back to the Future, Up, LA Confidential and Anchorman.

Song – The best song ever written ever is Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division
Band/Group – Artists I love include Snow Patrol, Ed Sheeran, The Smiths, Take That and Bjork.

TV show – Anything with a high geek content – Doctor Who, Misfits, Being Human, Sherlock – that kind of thing.

Play – I’m a bit of a Shakespeare gonk (a legacy of a brilliant English teacher at school) and love modern re-tellings of Shakespeare’s plays
I saw Lodestar’s Romeo & Juliet at St George’s Hall last year and loved it.

Artist – Henry Moore, Peter Blake, some David Hockney, William Blake and Andy Warhol
I love street art and anything you can interact with.

Website – Sali Hughes at The Guardian, Twitter, Facebook, WordPress, Den of Geek, SFX, Cult Box and Pinterest

Building – My house!
Because it’s where the people I love most in the world are.

Restaurant – Bistro Franc, Hanover Street
Great, swanky food at reasonable prices. Fantastic place to meet up with friends and have a good catch up. The atmosphere is lovely and relaxed and the food is so good it takes all my will power not to lick the plate.

View – the view from outside Blackburn House on Hope Street (just by the statue of suitcases) looking towards the river
The cathedrals on either side and the view of the City makes me feel like I’m in a really special place.

Person – Tom Baker
Because he’s mad and funny and brilliant. And he was Doctor Who!
