BBC Proms .

Just enjoying the August 2010 Proms from the Albert Hall, tonight on BBC 4. Celebration of Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals that have stood the test of time (they started writing them before even I was born!) I have grown up with these songs and watched as they became some of the best known musical films ever. Conductor John Wilson and his Orchestra are giving the performance of a lifetime the music feels even more vibrant, emotional and alive than in the films, maybe that’s because there is more concentration on the music. I love all of their music , don’t ask me to pick a favourite but they did get 10 Tony Awards for South Pacific on Broadway. Best Musical ,Best score, Best Libretto. And they did produced one of Liverpool’s best-loved songs , You’ll never walk Alone. Yes I’m definitely a fan of musicals and have indulged in South Pacific, Carousel, Sound of Music, King and I, and Oklahoma ( That song has been adopted by the state of Oklahoma!) yes loved it tonight on BBC 4.
