Deane Road Cemetary – Kensington
Deane Road Jewish cemetery in Kensington is a gem of who’s who.
I had an enlightening tour with Saul Marks and Louise Baldock Labour Cllr for Kensington and Fairfield. Saul is the chair of the conservation group, working tirelessly towards having this grade2 listed site restored to its former glory for future generations and visitors to be inspired by.
I was moved by the host of people who came to Liverpool and made their mark on art, literature, religion and history both foreign and domestic; household names we all know.
Tales of love, joy, and triumph, real people, some of who were not necessarily born in Liverpool but felt it was a spiritual home and their final chosen resting place.
The group are now looking to increase their board members and willing volunteers who like themselves can give time, energy, knowledge and expertise to help save this site for future generations. Working towards putting it clearly on the heritage map, were it belongs.
Once the project is complete this will become a community resource by encouraging visits from local schools to international visiting dignitaries to this special place.
Please see web site http://www.deaneroadcemetery.com/team.htm and become part of this exciting project get involved and become part of the legacy that the people of Kensington and Liverpool can be truly proud of.
