Monkey Nuts at the Liverpool Actors Studio

I went to see the preview of this play at the Actors Studio in Seel St on Friday. It was performed as part of the festival of one act plays, Write Now.

Written by Natalie Hickman and directed by Russel Tennant, the play concerns an elderly grandmother and her daughter and granddaughter who are visiting and cleaning her house. A very poignant comedy ensues with both daughter and granddaughter becoming frustrated with gran’s behaviour. Gran, though, is not as daft as she seems!

This is a story I am sure we all have had experience of!

It is beautifully played by all three actors, Yvonne Pinnington as Bobbie (gran), Lesley Hendry as Jan her daughter but an especial mention for Jolene Howorth as Leigh the grandaughter. A very convincing performance.

My score 5/5

The Write Now Festival, a series of eight plays, runs at the Actors Studio, 36 Seel St, until Saturday 23rd April.

Tickets £8/£6 (Concs). Ticketline 0151 709 3789
