National Powerboat Championship comes to Merseyside.

Looking for something to do on the Jubilee Bank Holiday Weekend ?……..then look no further, just take a trip to Carr Mill Dam just down the E. Lancs and watch the fast and furious, adrenaline fuelled powerboat races in action. Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd June will see powerboat racers from across the UK descend on Carr Mill Dam to compete for the RYA British National Championships. Around forty boats are expected to compete over the weekend in six different classes and with 2 litre  engines firing up the noise will be hair lifting! You can see Junior GT15 drivers aged 8-16 yrs and the GT30 14yr plus fliers but stay around for the T850 monohulls, Formula 4 catamatans and OSY400 hydroplanes shooting over 120 mph…on water. With speeds like that you can be sure of some very exciting close racing. The formula 2 action is the big race of the weekend and the one I’ll be geared up to win. There’ll be up to eight catamaran boats and the roar of the 2 litre outboard engines certainly hypes the drivers to push for glory and grab the accolade top prize.

All this is mixed up with a cocktail of choppy water and speeds creating a spectacle not to be missed. This is high octane driving, reaching exhilarating phenomenal speeds. The whole weekend event is free for spectators with the added attraction of a TV crew from none other than Top Gear!!!! and the “Waterside” eatery offering delicious meals with a fantastic waterside grandstand view of the whole event.
