Images 35. Now – 13th October 2012 Kirby Gallery, Knowsley

I have always been fascinated, from an early age, by pictures in books right from the lavish to the modern day pop-up extravagance of the Vampireology and Pirateology collections that are open-up ‘in your face’ creations that make you think how did they engineer such an origamic creation.

Images 35 is a showcase of work by the UK’s most talented illustrators, including new work from the big names in the industry. It’s the premier and longest running jury-selected illustration annual and touring exhibition in the UK and provides the leading showcase for the variety of contemporary illustration commissioned in the UK today.

If you like art, books, pictures that make you think and have a good imagination and want to visit a different gallery location then venture out to Kirby Gallery/Library Newton Gardens Kirby, Knowsley.

To coincide with the holidays and the ‘big draw’ in October, there will be a range of art workshops to accompany this exhibition

Check-out also the Liverpool Tate “Inside Outside” family art workshops at tate.org.uk/members and the fantastically architecturally ornate Liverpool Universities Victoria Gallery and Museum for free family Saturday workshops when a local artist gets creative. http://www.liv.ac.uk/vgm/events.

Still with the Kirkby Gallery, don’t miss ‘Larger than Life’ 29th Oct when world-renownwd illustrator Quentin Blake presents his designs for fabrics, wallpaper, ceramics, and lampshades…….in as large as life and even larger. This is a real must to visit and will be getting international coverage.
