BBC The One Show to film Culture Champion John Wishart
Well we went about consuming like crazy and then came the hard part of critiquing what we’d seen and done. Back then the whole concept of actually creating something was about as realistic to us as the thought of independent human flight!
And yet, encouraged by the wonderful people who support us as Champions, we actually started to have ideas for things we wanted to do. Gasp! And now John Wishart, a man whose enthusiasm for music would make Winnie the Pooh’s Tigger look like a wet weekend, has got the ball rolling with his idea. And man is it rolling!
The BBC’s One Show put a call out for community projects that need a helping hand with the aim of filming them as part of the One Show Community Action. John emailed the show with plans for his forthcoming music workshops for over 50’s. Well the One Show think its such a great idea that they’re coming to Liverpool next week (1 October) to help kick start his idea.
They’re setting Carrie Grant, the presenter, the challenge of finding a group of musical over 50’s on Monday 1 October, rehearsing a song on the Tues (hopefully at Knotty Ash Youth & Community Centre) and then performing live on TV on Wednesday. This will be a great launch for John’s weekly over 50’s music group that he planned to start every Friday from 19 October at Knotty Ash Youth & Community Centre.
To paraphrase Cleo McDowell in Coming to America, I’m so excited I feel like break dancin!
