International Day Of Languages.

Saturday, 29th September 11am at Broadgreen International School sees nine Liverpool Supplementary schools showcase their culture through dance, music, song and food.

This shall be an entertaining day for the visitors who will see aspects of the different nationalities on Merseyside come together for the first time to exhibit in their community with displays and samples of work in each of the classrooms at the High School.

I’ve been busy with some of the children from one of the schools piecing together a vibrant display and coordinating the dance troupe that will perform a short mazurka or folk dance.

Rooms will be a pageant of colour reflecting the vibrant ethnic lifestyles and giving some insight into the work of a Supplementary school.

Classrooms will consist of national costumes, folk dancing, music with instruments to ‘have a go on’, languages to try your tongue at, DVD clips and powerpoint displays.

The day will definately be well worth a “drop in” to see “what’s cooking” in the cosmopolitan world of Liverpool.

The event will be opened by the Lord Mayor at 11am with cultural presentations from Arabic, Polish, Yemeni, Chinese, Iranian, Greek, Somali, Libyan and Finnish supplementary schools.

The whole event will be on show until 2.30pm.
Try a language, taste some food, see a performance with singing, poetry and admire the beautiful National Costume presentations.

Each school will perform for press and dignitaries in the hall so make it a date not to miss!.
