River Festival Friday 7th-Sunday 9th June.

The tall ships will once again grace the River Mersey with beautiful vessels from Ireland, Denmark, France and Belgium.

If the ships are not for you then, the entertainment in and around the Albert Dock will be exciting and electric. I’ll definitely be donning the wet suit and gracing the Albert Dock trying my hand at the sport of ‘wake’ boarding.

This is a real thrill, skimming across the dock surface at jet speed.

Originally an American idea and modified over the years; it’s taken off literally all over Europe and can be seen near all the major theme parks as an attraction.
It’s a sort of Jackass, daredevil, dangerous form of water skiing….but fun, fun, fun!

On Saturday, fourteen of the world’s best wakeboarders will descend on Liverpool for the Red Bull Harbour Reach. This will be a truly exciting event which the kids will enjoy and judging by the last event, will have the visitors bursting to view the aerial acrobatics.

The Albert docks will play host to the most challenging setup yet, using Liverpool’s industrial features, to create a competition that places the rider’s agility and creative thinking to the limit.

The River Festival is one of Liverpool’s showcase events which highlights the historic waterfront to visitors from all over the world.
So, don’t miss the spectacular World Music Stage with Indian, African, and Arab music and dance; not forgetting the traditional sea-shanties sung in and around the beautiful sailing boats.

Don’t miss the Liverpool Shanty Kings at the Museum of Liverpool atrium on 8th June at 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm.

The whole weekend will be a hive of activity and entertainment with those super eateries tempting you at every turn.
Watch the street theatre and entertainment unfold before your eyes and it’s all free. Pick up a schedule of events from the tourist information office and plan your weekend.

Weather forecast predictions are for super weather this weekend so expect thousands of people to descend on the Albert Dock, Pier Head and the waterfront.
Will I be there……You bet!!!!
