Shows Galore in the North West this Summer!.
On Sunday, Court Hey Park in Childwall, held their annual Flower Show for the 15th year, and it has stood the test of time with record numbers of visitors.
Many years ago, I was a regular visitor to the Liverpool Show and the Woolton Show, exhibiting in as many fields as I could. This ranged from cacti bowls, mini garden displays to small mammals and allotment vegetable exhibits.
Croxteth Hall appeared on the scene with their Flower show and I entered a few times but nothing compared to the original all singing all dancing shows of the past that covered both horticulture and livestock.
Now, we have the RHS, with the Tatton Show bringing in the big crowds, Knowsley Flower Show (Court Hey Park, Childwall) and Southport Flower Show (15th-18th August) which still puts on a good display and are superb for garden design ideas and the usual commercial retail exhibits. This is the UK’s largest independent flower show and takes place over four days in Victoria Park showcasing spectacular displays from growers and designers both locally and nationally.
For a great day out, this show is well worth it with food markets, chef demonstrations, celebrities, book signings, food exhibitors, show gardens and family fun with the added bonus of that best plant buy. Ticket Hotline (01704 549 190)
