George Orwell’s 1984 – Liverpool Playhouse Tue 29 Oct – Sat 2 Nov
It is not often you see the Guardian, the Times and the Telegraph give a play five stars but they have awarded this to the new adaptation of George Orwell’s play 1984 created by Robert Icke and Duncan Macmillan
It is also brilliant that local actor, Mark Arends is appearing as Winston Smith and receiving tremendous acclaim.
Tuesday 29th October at 1pm Mark will discuss his role as Winston in this production of 1984 alongside Dr Chris Pak from John Moores University at the Illy Café at Waterstones Liverpool One.
April, 1984. 13:00. Comrade 6079, Winston Smith, thinks a thought, starts a diary, and falls in love. But Big Brother is watching him – and the door to Room 101 can swing open in the blink of an eye.
The Times reviewed this as
“This is a staging that reconsiders a classic with such steely power that it chills brain, blood and bone”
Certainly one not to be missed.
