skate of the dead: live roller derby!

This Saturday 23rd Nov at Greenbank Sports Academy, between 1.30pm and 6.30pm sees Liverpool Roller Birds take on Sheffield Steel then Plymouth Roller Girls in this fast paced, exciting contact sport.

If you have seen the film ‘Whip It’ with Drew Barrymore, then take time out with the kids to go along and watch this action packed afternoon. Adults £5 with kids under 16 FREE.

Roller derby is predominantly a female contact sport played by women on retro roller skates on a flat surface.

Its roots lie in America, where it has been played for decades.

Liverpool saw its first and only team set up in 2009 and has gone from strength to strength.

Visit once and you will be taken by this fiercely competitive, theatrical, grippingly lively action sport; but do take time out to visit the café and stalls with cakes and sugar-skulls aplenty!
