Year of the Horse…Kids ‘n’ Ponies Fun Day Wednesday 19th Feb Aintree Equestrian Centre.
This event is FREE to visitors but the horse entries are charged.
Don’t miss this tomorrow at the Equestrian centre. When you arrive at this centre for the first time, you will probably ask the question, why didn’t I know about this place before?
Completed in 2007, the centre was designed specifically to provide a venue for Equestrianism, and is now a centre of excellence and a showpiece in itself for every type of horse activity.
One visit to the 70m by 30m exhibition arena and you will be well impressed. With free entry every night and a grandstand view of the whole show, it’s well worth a visit.
I spend at least one evening a week here during winter up until the Grand National training days.
If you feel a bit peckish then the hog roast, burger, or frankfurter and fries will put an end to that, with the numerous eateries around, the venue caters for all spectator needs.
The event stadium has certainly added to the Merseyside ‘horse boom,’ with interest from young and old; giving budding riders the perfect place to develop the horsemanship skills.
Liverpool stables abound with weekend courses and attentive volunteers willing to lend a hand for the all important ‘free’ lesson.
A quick look on the internet will give you information on the “Own a pony” 1/2 day courses that are available. Children aged 6-12 can learn all about horses’ care, feeding, grooming and much more.
These are excellent educational instruction days working with an animal that, less than a hundred years ago was a daily sight on our roads.
Croxteth Riding Centre this week has children learning all about the daily life and care of a horse and if you’re lucky enough to get a weekend stable job, then your made for your riding lessons.
At between £10.50 and £17 a half hour, you need to be dedicated.
Don’t forget tomorrows fun-day…… it’s FREE….and you may get a free ride on a pony. This is an excellent day out, fun and educational, and if we continue to have weather like this….the arena is warm and comfy with tiered seating to relax in and unwind.
