Prescot Elizabethan Fayre Saturday 3rd May
Join Liverpool Alt Valley Culture Champion on this fantastic sunny morning at Prescot’s rich Elizabethan Fayre and be transported back to the 15th Century.
This ever popular Fayre takes place in Prescot old town centre this time each year and is well supported by community and visitors who have made the journey to witness this historic occasion and see the enactments in fine Tudor costume.
The main events will take place from 10am to 4pm in and around Prescots well preserved Parish Church.
As usual, there will be the traditional crafts on display such as basket making, Medieval dyeing and spinning demonstrations as well as wood turning, with live Elizabethan music, dance and craft stalls galore.
All this Saturday merrymaking will coincide with the monthly Producers’ Market that will take place in nearby Eccleston Street giving the place a real air of excitement and historical empathy.
Children and adults alike will enjoy this exciting day with Knowsley Safari Park Rangers providing added interest in the form of live creatures to handle and exhibit. A climb up the historic Prescot church bell tower will give a glorious view over the Lancashire Plain and Merseyside.
Don’t forget to visit the Prescot Museum on the Fayres doorstep and holding a well worthwhile clock collection. The history of the Prescot clock making industry is fascinating, once the envy of the world and collectors pieces now making a tidy sum on the antiques roadshow price guide.
And finally, if you have not been to the Cables shopping centre for some time, then make it a trip for that bargain and view the new retail outlets today. Culture and fun all in one place.
