Maritime History Made in Liverpool!
What a year for our Maritime City and history. One hundred and seventy-five years ago Cunard’s first liner sailed from Liverpool across the Atlantic. Passengers from all over Europe passed through our port on this route to start new lives in America. I am so fortunate that my ancestors came over from Sweden and remained in this City, together with lots of other nationalities that stayed here, giving us our rich cultural heritage today.
Cunard is celebrating this event by bringing their three ‘Queens’ to Liverpool in May and this magnificent event will not only showcase their beautiful ships but our magnificent waterfront, hospitality and City.
I will be there singing with the Shanty Kings on Monday 25 May at the Pier Head at this historic event when the three Queens sail up the river between 12 – 14 hours.
