Liverpool (as seen by Patrick)

Patrick my 23-year-old guest from Germany has been sharing his impressions of Liverpool.  He loves Liverpool, what does he think are the best parts ?  The people, they are friendly and helpful,  The Pubs and clubs are very good , lots happening ! He like the city and how easy, compact it is to get around. Loves the shops and Liverpool ONE with all the bars, cafe’s and restaurants.  (was going shopping today) Enjoyed the Cavern and the music and atmosphere. Thinks Albert Dock is great (even though it was cold wet and very windy) Places of interest he enjoyed ?  The Maritime Museum, the Slavery Museum, and St Georges Hall very big, very impressive!  Not to mention our two football stadiums ( I think he’s an Anfield fan)  The Waterfront ? very impressive even though they didn’t get on the Ferries due to bad weather. Today a visit to Formby and Antony Gormley Sculptures on the beach it was nice and sunny, cold but sunny hoped he enjoyed them and tonight waiting for him a big pan of SCOUSE hope he like our favourite dish.

Saturdays with the Beatles. At the Cavern.

Saturday nights throughout the year the Cavern Club rocks to the sound of the fab four , featuring one of the resident Beatle bands.  Well it rocks on Sundays with live musicians . I played tourist guide to friends from Kings Lynn, we went on a very wet soggy Sunday after walking round the Albert Dock , The Tate, The Pumphouse to name a few . We went to the Cavern at the request of Fred  (he’s 73) since he was a teenager he has loved the Beatles songs and music , ” you can’t visit Liverpool and not see the Cavern” said Fred. I agreed. We had a fabulous time . A few drinks, Chatting to  the (young ) audience and a great band of three  talented guys called the Madison.   madisonparty.co.uk   A great singer, A fabulous guitarist. and a brilliant drummer  ( Ossie ?) who was just temping with the group. They played a wide variety of music and a fair share of Beatle offerings. Loved it !  And Fred’s verdict……” never thought I would be sitting in the famous Cavern and actually listening to Beatle Music at my age” .  Came out deaf ! but Loved it and Fred has something to tell his grandchildren.   www.cavernclub.org   0151 236 4041 (for tickets)   Great for all ages.
